Stop a Barking Dog Quickly
By adminPEOPLE WHO WANT TO STOP BARKING DOGS – BUT CAN’T GET STARTED!
Is a barking dog embarrassing you when company comes to your house or your neighbors complain about the noise? Besides creating more noise in the neighborhood, dogs that bark all the time can scare children, especially infants.
Not all dog barks are bad. Let’s face it. All dogs bark, it’s their way to speak a message about what is happening in their world. A dog bark is a like speaking words or sentences in their own language. Do you know why dogs bark?
Why do dogs bark?
Dog barks for various reasons : to welcome, to warn, out of boredom, to draw in attention or when they are excited. The simplest way to stop a tricky barker is to manipulate his barking while you are at home. Here is a quick way to control that barking.
1. Set up a position where your dog will always bark. As an example, you can ask somebody to ring your doorbell or knock on your door.
2. When your dog charges to the door and begin to bark loudly, approach your dog, grab his collar and give the command quiet no roaring please, it does not help. If he stops barking, praise and reward. He is a genius and merits it.
When he continues barking, close his mouth with your hand, wrap your fingers around his muzzle use both hands if required, and give the command for him to keep quiet. Praise if he stops. Set up other tests to ‘lure’ your dog to bark and repeat coaching whenever it’s possible.
How to Work with a Hard Core Barking Dog
If you own a hard-core determined barker, use this strategy. First, make a Vinegar-Water solution by mixing seven parts of eight water and one part of vinegar together. Pour this mixed solution into a squirt gun, a water pistol or what kids call a super soaker for longer distance shooting. Dogs hate the scent of vinegar and would customarily back off and stop barking. He’ll even sneeze a number of times. It’s safe, so you don’t need to worry.
Use a Control Collar
To handle a dog that is temperamental, you will need a coaching apparatus known as bark collars to help educate him. A few of these collars send an electrical shock to your dog when he barks, some make a high pitch sound or emit a squirt of citronella which is provoking but safe for your dog. Sometimes, these collars will help you solve a cryptic barker. Personally, I may advocate the high pitch sound or citronella collars. They’re really effective and more humane dog coaching tools.
A barking dog can be a nuisance unless you know how to channel his language. Remember, YOU own the dog – the dog does not own you. Make sure you train your dog to have the best control of your home and yard.
